We're definitely upon to a like feature! It's a tricky one though. On Facebook, I think that liking a comment adds it to your newsfeed... the tricky thing here though is that we don't have a newsfeed on Hellobee.
Any thoughts on what liking a comment would do here?

yay! i don't know, actually. i just know that i'm really compelled to like them and i can't. haha.
maybe it would just be a running tally of the number of likes. but then, is it relevant to know who likes it? probably so?

Ah ok. Would you want a feature where people could upvote posts, and the upvotes would be counted up?

i think so! but it might also be relevant to the original commenter to see who liked their posts.

@boogs ‐ That is definitely possible... we will have to move very carefully!
We have some voting code we developed for another site... we could maybe install it on the suggestions section to test it out, and see how that goes? That might give us a preview of how it could affect the dynamic of the site!

I think it could lead to a bit of a popularity problem, however, it may reduce the amount of people repeating themselves if they can like what someone else has already said.

I like the idea of a like button too..
I don't think that the more likes one posts gets the higher it should move in the conversation though - if that makes sense? Not sure if that's what you were trying to say.
On facebook it obviously isn't seen as a popularity contest.

@Coco Bee: Nope!
Whether or not we add voting or liking, posts on the boards would stay in their current time-based order.

@mrbee: oh okay good.. I guess that's what I envisioned when I saw the talk about it being a "popularity contest".

On Yahoo, they just have a thumbs up or down button, with the number of each next to it. You could just have a thumb up on each comment, with a chance to click it to vote it thumbs up.
