Have you considered having the links to the "site basics" higher up on the page? It seems weird, and annoying in a very minor, doesn't really matter way, to have to scroll past less important things like "today's leaders" to get to something that I actually need.

@Torchwood: Our thinking was that people tend to check out today's leaders fairly regularly, but people don't really check out the help and suggestion sections all that regularly.
We've featured similar links more prominently on other sites, and the help/suggestions sections still didn't get that many clicks. So I don't know if more prominent placement is a good use of the limited space in the sidebar.
Definitely open to feedback on this subject though! Will also discuss it with some other board bees, to get their take as well...

@mrbee: It might just be that I'm different than most users. I couldn't care less about things like the leaders, but I do look to resolve issues maybe once every month or two? Still not frequently, but a lot less often than I check most of the other things in the sidebar.
