If a thread is longer than a page, I have to do a series of copy and pasting to reply to everyone.
Could there be a way to reply all or maybe a way to select users to reply to by a dropdown menu or checkboxes?

@bluestriped bee: the dropdown or checkboxes idea sounds intriguing! What did you have in mind in terms of interface... trying to visualize how it might work!!

@mrbee: Maybe once a thread gets to be longer than a page, an option will appear to 'reply to users'. We can click that and it will populate all the users (in a window or popup) that posted on that thread. Then we can simply select (by checkboxes) the users we want to reply to. Then those names will be automatically inserted into the comment box. From there we can add specific comments to certain users if we want.
Does that sound doable?

@bluestriped bee: Ah, very interesting!
I worry that it might be a little complicated... will have to think some more about how to make it powerful along these lines, but also still relatively straightforward to figure out!!

I was thinking of this too, I usually just have to reply to who I want on the first page, then make a second post and reply to the people on the following pages. It would be great if there were an easier way!

I brought this up before, but maybe a pop-out reply window would help with this? Right now, I open the same thread in two different windows so I can read and reply without clicking back and forth.

I agree with @Happygal: suggestion for a pop up window. Sometimes it's frustrating when you have to open multiple tabs to respond to one post.

@mrbee: I agree with @Happygal and @Freckles: ... even if the pop out was an option. Like a little icon next to the text box that would allow the box to load as a pop up window if you clicked it.

Great ideas. I usually give up replying on Multi page threads because of this!

@MapleMoose: Our programmer has limited capacity right now to take on projects... so, no progress.

@mrbee: Had a thought about how this would work. What if the text was copied in the reply box when you switch pages? For example, I type out a reply to someone from page 3 into the reply box. Then I click to page 4, write a reply to someone else in the reply box, below the reply I already wrote from page 3. (The text I wrote in the reply box has carried over when I switched pages.) Then I go to page 5 and write a new reply below my previous two replies (from pgs 3 + 4). Then I hit "submit" and my replies from page 3, 4, and 5 are all in one post from me.
Sorry to bug you, just wanted to share a thought I had!
ETA: I don't mean this as a prod to get this feature up and running because I know you are all busy bees behind the scenes.

@MapleMoose: the reply box currently appears only on the last page of comments, I think... we could add it to the other pages of comments though. Is that what you had in mind?
grapefruit / 4213 posts
@mrbee: Yes have the reply box appear on all pages. But also have it keep the text I type even when I change pages I'm viewing.

@MapleMoose: Oooh, I was just wondering about this the other day! It's not a huge deal, but it would make it so much easier with the larger threads (like POAS, etc.) to reply to a bunch of people at once. I always feel silly when I have, like, three or four posts in a row responding to people.

This is a great suggestion! Would love to see a feature for multiple replies.

Bumping this up! I'd love an easier way to respond to multiple people!

I would love if I didn't lose my place every time I replied to people in a thread. I often get overwhelmed and end up abandoning or just adding several separate replies. Thank you!

@MapleMoose: Love your description of how this would work. So I could be on page 4 of a 6 page thread, hitting the reply button would put my @replies in the reply box on page 4, but then when I hit the "next" button to go to the next page, the reply box on that page would still have all my @replies from the previous page!
Sounds complicated to program though. Good luck, @mrbee.

@Adira: Exactly! I agree with you about the programming for that though, sounds hard!
