@mrbee: OMG. For a second there, I thought I posted this suggestion months ago and completely forgot about. I thought it was my bad memory at my worst. Haha. Glad I'm not going nuts.

Thank for moving this into a new suggestion.

I do want to add some context to this suggestion. I made this comment on another suggestion about hiding certain threads from certain users and it reminding me of thread jacking.

@bluestriped bee: I moved this comment into a separate thread, since the suggestion felt like a new one!

The best way to deal with thread jacking is to flag the post... I'll take a look and if the thread is veering off course, then I'll leave a comment and ask the thread to stay on topic. :)

Over time though, we might provide ways that users could let others users know when they feel a thread is going off topic... that would fit into our general desire to decentralize a lot of the site, so board bees can manage the site without requiring as many top-down admins!

I know the topic of 'thread jacking' has been discussed before. If you feel someone is thread jacking your thread, how could we block or hide them from a thread? I haven't had the need for it, but have seen borderline instances.

Also, is there a discrete way of taking care of thread jacking situation without causing drama on the thread? Not sure if this is possible.

ETA: I'm talking about negative thread jacking where it can completely derail the thread and turn it into a possible heated thread.
